election was conducted by ballot instead of by vote at

a general meeting. We in fact devoted much care to the

arrangements so that they were as complete as possible.

We sent out ballots to all the labour associations in

the Colony on the 27th. March. There were no less than

100 applications and more for these tickets, which shows

how enthusiastic was the support given to our Union by

all the labour associations in Hong Kong. The tickets

were opened publicly in our Union on the 1st. April,

and the result was very sats factory. Those who were

successfully elected to the Committee were the repre-

sentatives of the Seamen's Union, the Tea House Torkmen's

Association, the Restaurant Workers' General Labour Union, the Chi Ping Pork-Butchers' Association, the Beef, Kutton and Vegetables Labour Association, the Wun Yin Hair-

dressers' Association, the Coxswains' and Engineers' Association, the Association of Chinese in Foreign Employ-

ment, the Electric Tramway Labourers' Association, the

Coal Labourers' General Labour Union, the Tung Tak Cargo Coolies' Association, the Ping Lok Rattan Workmen's Association, the Fon Yin Boarding House Workmen's Asso- ciation, the Hoi Luk Li Fo Telly-men's Association, the Fresh-fish Workmen's Association, the Kung Ping Association (Mam Pak Hong Workmen's), the Fruit and Vegetables Workmen's Association, the King Yuen Chinese Compositors' Association, the Dried and Roast Heat Workmen's Association, the Tung Lok Pit Shu, (Government Civil Hospital Coolies' Guild), the Women's Labour Association and the Carpenters' Association.
